What does non-resident membership mean?
You get to enjoy being a member of the Hobart community while living in a separate building on or off-campus! You are able to earn points for going to Hobart events as if you were a resident. It is not imperative that you live in Hobart's building to be a part of its community. You can be a non-resident for as long or as short as you like, so we hope you consider it!
What are the benefits?
Since returning students are required to have points with a residential college in order to move into one the following year, non-residents have the opportunity to switch into Hobart! For more information on that, see the "Joining Hobart" page. In the meantime, you can access most of the building with your Wildcard. If interested, you can even run for a number of executive board positions. Non-residents are just as much a part of the community as residents!
How do I sign up?
Fill out the non-resident application here, and bring it to the Office of Residential Academic Initiatives (ORAI) at 2122 Sheridan Rd. Soon after ORAI receives your application, Hobart's executive board will be notified and will collectively agree to grant you membership at their next meeting. Once this process is complete, ORAI should give you Wildcard access within about a week, and a non-resident fee should appear on your CAESAR account. For Hobart House, the quarterly fee to become a non-resident is $15, and the fee for the academic year is $40.
